It’s not unusual for streamers to develop close friendships with fellow streamers. However, some fans would try to put malice in these friendships. That’s what happened to English Twitch and YouTube broadcaster, Tubbo, whose real name is Toby Smith. The English streamer was rumored to be gay and to be in a romantic relationship with another streamer, TommyInnit, because of their closeness.
Tubbo, who has 3 million subscribers on YouTube, was famous for his work with Dream SMP in Minecraft. He started streaming Minecraft videos on Twitch in 2018 and has been constantly gaining followers since he joined the streaming community. Following his popularity on Twitch, he also gained a huge following on other social media platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. He’d usually play games with other popular streamers like TommyInnit, Wilbur Soot, Niki Nihachu, and Wisp. Currently, he is working on TubNet, a crossplay minigames server.
And as mentioned above, the streamer was rumored to be gay because of his closeness with another male YouTuber. Well, is there any truth to these rumors? Is Tubbo gay? Let’s find out.

How the Rumors About Tubbo’s Sexuality Started
Aside from his closeness with a fellow streamer, TommyInnit, which fans believed to be beyond platonic friendship, Tubbo also put a pride flag on his Twitter bio once to celebrate Pride Month. His fans took it as a sign of his admission of being part of the queer community.
To the fans’ defense, Tubbo really does flirt with TommyInnit a lot online. In one of his streams, he even asked Tommy to go on a date with him, to which the other streamer replied with a “No”. Tubbo then said “You suck, Tommy!” after the straight out rejection.
Tommy also once mentioned that his fans want him to kiss Tubbo but he doesn’t want to do it. Tubbo was visibly disappointed because of Tommy’s refusal to give in to the fans’ requests.
Another instance is when Tubbo did some house decorations with someone, which got Tommy furious.

But, of course, this banter could be nothing more than harmless flirting between friends. Or it could be fanservice, since fans seem to love the interaction between the two.

Tubbo on Being Gay
With regards to being gay, the streamer was recently under fire for saying something offensive. Tubbo loves to interact with fans during his streams. He would sometimes allow fans to call him for a brief interaction.
One time, he was doing a three-word challenge with his fans through phone calls wherein his fans would tell him their problem and he would give his advice in no more than three words.
So, fans were telling him random issues like university problems and such. But there was this one fan who told him, “I’m gay.” And applying the game’s three-word rule, the streamer replied with “Get well soon.”
While some fans didn’t take it seriously and actually find it hilarious, not everyone is happy with the interaction. Some fans actually find it offensive against the LGBTQ community.
Is Tubbo Gay?
Amidst all the gay rumors that had been surrounding the social media star, he never once said anything about it. And since he was determined to keep his private life hidden from the media, it’s hard to tell who he is dating or has dated. There is absolutely no trace of his dating life (if ever there exists one) in all his social media accounts. Thus, telling Tubbo’s sexuality at this point is next to impossible.
The streamer, however, said in one of his streams that he doesn’t want his sexuality to become a part of his personality as he is more than that. He doesn’t want to be labeled as this or that. He wants people to see and accept him as who he is, and not because of his sexual orientation.
