Tristen Gressett had recently shot to stardom due to his successful stints on “American Idol” Season 20. This 17-year-old high-octane singer and guitarist from Alabama made it to the Top 11 of the ABC reality series.

Although he fell short of making it to the cut for the season’s finale, Gressett said he had no regrets about joining the competition. Earning kudos from all three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie — increased his public profile and helped him gain a wider fanbase. The whole experience itself was amazing, he said.
I feel amazing about the whole experience. The only thing is, I wish I could go back and do it all over again.”

It was evident that he was ready to become a superstar the moment he stepped onto the American Idol stage and told everyone — specifically the judges — that he was ready to rock their world. He won everyone’s hearts, including the judges’, with his banger performance.
Although the judges told him to tone it down because he was “overusing all of his talents”, they gave him a “yes” after saying that they’d turn him “from a gimmick to an artist”. They said that if the teen could handle some coaching, he could become a true star.
When Luke Bryan asked him what he was attempting to do, Gressett said:
I want to change the world of music. I want to bring back something that should have never left: soul.”
But his flamboyant performance and overall personality — although it helped him earn a spot in the popular singing competition — sparked rumors about his personal life, too. It made fans question his sexuality.

There have been reports that the American Idol alum is dating his high school sweetheart by the name of Leah. She is said to be a budding photographer. The pair was rumored to have been dating for a couple of years already.
This was after Gressett changed his Instagram bio to “my heart belongs to @Leah_loves.art_”. There was, however, no other confirmation about the supposed relationship aside from that Instagram bio. The teen singer had never talked about his romance.
Gresset had also changed his Instagram bio to something else recently, so it’s hard to tell if he was still dating his supposed girlfriend or if they have already broken up.
