Better known as one-fourth of the comedy troupe, The Tenderloins, Sal Vulcano is an American improvisational and stand-up comedian. This 46-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Salvatore Edward Anthony Vulcano, is popular for being a part of the show “Impractical Jokers”, which aired on truTV from 2011 until the present.
For those who are not familiar with the show, it is an American hidden camera reality TV series that does pranks for entertainment. But what sets them apart from other prank television shows is the fact that they prank the cast members instead of doing it to clueless bystanders. They would punish a member who failed to pull off a prank, too. The punishments can be excessive sometimes, like how they got Sal to have Jaden Smith’s face tattooed on his thigh in one of the episodes. It may be a huge factor that the cast members were lifelong friends so they knew each other well. They can get extreme without pushing each other to their limit.
The cast members are composed of the comedy troupe The Tenderloins — Sal Vulcano, James Murray, Brian Quinn, and former member Joe Gatto. They call themselves Jokers. They met when they were in high school but went their separate ways after graduating. They reconnected after college and formed a comedy ensemble.
Being mistaken for gay is a common occurrence for comedians, and Sal is no exception to this. Fans had been curious about his sexuality, thinking that he swung that way. Well, does he? Is Sal Vulcano from Impractical Jokers gay? Read further to find out the answer.

The Story Behind Sal’s False Coming Out
In one of the episodes of “Impractical Jokers”, which aired last September 25, 2015, Sal “came out” as gay. During the said episode, they did a talk show skit with their guest, Sally Jessy Raphael, a former daytime talk show host.
In the said episode, Sal said he had something to confess. Shocking the audience, he came clean of something that had been “eating him alive”, coming out as gay in front of everyone.
This prompted one of the Jokers, James Murray, to say:
Sal later confessed that he wasn’t really gay and that he only “came out” to give James the courage to do the same thing.
But things didn’t end there, as James Murray later confessed that he, too, was just faking the whole coming out thing for entertainment purposes. Everything was just part of the skit.
However, the casual viewers who thought that the talk show was real started to spread misinformation. That’s how the rumor about Sal’s sexuality began.
Neither Sal nor James is gay in real life. James, in fact, got married to his fiancée, Melyssa Davis, on September 25, 2020.
Sal’s Personal Life and Relationship
Sal Vulcano has always been very discreet about his personal life. He never shares details about his relationships with the public.
However, rumors about the comedian getting married started circulating the internet in December 2019. This was after a Tumblr user claimed to have seen him wearing a wedding band on his left hand during a live show in Boston. Some fans were quick to assume that he had tied the knot to his alleged longtime girlfriend, Francesca Muffaletto.
Some fans were skeptical about the whole thing since Sal never publicly confirmed his relationship with Muffaletto. Although the comedian had once mentioned his “terrific” fiancée during his appearance on Robert Kelly’s podcast last June 2019. He, however, didn’t drop any names.
It was later confirmed that the rumored wedding between the comedian and Francesca Muffaletto was true. The wedding was said to take place on September 8, 2019.
Aside from a tweet Sal made last June 5, 2020, there was no direct confirmation about the supposed marriage.
Is Sal Vulcano From Impractical Jokers Gay?
At this point, the comedian’s sexual orientation is kind of obvious. Knowing the story behind his “coming out” seemed to prove that he was not gay. If the rumors were true about him and his fiancée tying the knot last 2019, then Sal Vulcano is a married man now. Just another reason to stop doubting him being straight.
