Pauly Shore, whose birth name is Paul Montgomery Shore, is an American actor, comedian, and filmmaker. He rose to fame by making comedy films. His acting career peaked in the 1990s when he was considered one of the most well-known comedians of his generation.
His most popular films include “For Keeps?” (1988), “Lost Angels” (1989), “Dream Date” (1989), “Class Act” (1992), “Encino Man” (1992), “Son in Law” (1993), and “A Goofy Movie” (1995). He started as a stand-up comedian at the age of 17 before he got his big break as an MTV VJ in 1989. His own MTV show, “Totally Pauly”, ran from 1990 to 1997. This opened more doors for him, landing him his first-ever movie role. And the rest, so they say, is history.
The comedian has never been married and that is probably one of the reasons why some people think he’s not straight. Well, is Pauly Shore gay? Let’s get to the bottom of this.
VOTE: What is Pauly Shore’s Sexuality?
How Did The Rumor About Pauly Shore’s Sexuality Start?
It’s funny how the whole gay rumor was started by no one but Pauly Shore himself. There was no prior speculation about the comedian’s sexuality before he posted something on his Facebook and Twitter pages which basically started the whole thing.
It was September 19, 2017, when he posted a photo of himself on his social media accounts with the caption:
Although not everyone took it seriously, since he’s a comedian and he could be joking, that still fueled the rumor about his sexuality. But after some time, when there was no evidence to prove that he was, indeed, serious, people realized that it could just be a publicity stunt. That’s very possible considering that his career wasn’t doing really well at that time.
It wasn’t the first time that he did this. In 2003, the actor-comedian also faked his own death for attention. It’s ironic how he tried to save his dying career with “Pauly Shore Is Dead” way back then.
Pauly Shore’s Relationship Status
Although Pauly Shore had never been engaged or married, he had actually dated a lot of women in the past. And this fact alone — that he never really dated or was linked to someone of the same gender — was enough proof that the actor was heterosexual.
He dated people from the industry. He was in a relationship with fellow comedians and actors.
The actor’s most recent relationship (from what the public knows, at least) was with Alex Noble. They’ve reportedly been dating since 2014. There was no report of them breaking up, so they have been together for 8 years now if that’s actually the case. However, Pauly Shore was spotted being lovey-dovey with a woman much younger than him in Miami Beach back in 2015. So the authenticity of the reports pertaining to his and Alex Noble’s relationship is still questionable.
Pauly Shore’s Dating History
Pauly Shore had about twelve relationships in the past. And here are some of the women who were romantically linked to him.
He reportedly dated American model Jill St. Marks. It was said that they were together sometime in 1991. There was not much information about this relationship, though. It’s unknown how long the two have been together.
Probably the first publicly known relationship Pauly Shore had was with the popular adult actress, Shannon Wilsey. The pornographic superstar, who has made more than 100 movies in her lifetime, was popularly known as “Savannah”. The couple was reported to have dated for 11 months before they broke up in late 1992. Wilsey took her own life in 1994, leaving the comedian heartbroken.
The actor also dated Australian singer and actress Kylie Minogue. They both starred in the 1996 comedy film “Bio-Dome”. The relationship didn’t last long either.
Other women who were linked with Pauly Shore were American playwright and theater director Deborah Laufer, American actress Tiffani Thiessen, American pornstar Midori, American pornographic artist Jewel De’Nyle, and American model Kina Tavarozi. There was not much information about his relationships with these women.
Pauly Shore’s Greatest Heartbreak
Pauly Shore was always known to fans as a bright and lively actor who’s really good at doing comedic roles. But the sudden death of an ex-girlfriend took a blow to his whole well-being, thus, affecting his career.
As mentioned above, the actor dated Shannon Wilsey, or Savannah, as everyone knows. They dated for almost a year before they decided to go their own separate ways in late 1992. Two years later, the pornstar took her own life in a very tragic way, leaving the actor devastated.
In an interview to promote his movie “In The Army Now”, which was released in August 1994, Pauly Shore talked about Wilsey instead. In the said interview, gone is the hyper and hysterical Pauly Shore that everyone knows. It only takes one look to know that the actor was not in the right headspace. He looked lost.
It was known that Shannon Wilsey crashed her car in July 1994. Although the accident didn’t kill her, she shot herself to death right after.
The adult actress was reported to call her manager to inform her that she broke her nose and hit her head in a horrible car accident. She even asked her manager to take her to the hospital. But when her manager reached her home, the actress had already shot herself in the head. It didn’t kill her right away and she had to be put on life support for a while before she eventually passed away.
When asked why she took her own life, Paul Shore said it was because she became the “role” she had to play. She forgot who she really was.
Pauly Shore even shared that he was with her when the actress died in the hospital. Shannon Wilsey’s death left a huge blow to the comedian’s whole well-being. It left him heartbroken.
Wilsey’s death was just the start of a string of misfortunes in the actor’s personal life. In 2018, he lost both his mother, Mitzi Shore, and his sister. His father, Sammy Shore, who’s also a comedian, died in 2019, as well. All these losses have had a huge impact on Pauly Shore’s career.

Is Pauly Shore Gay?
No, the actor-slash-comedian is not gay. It was evident that the rumor about Pauly Shore being gay, which was spread by the actor himself, was nothing more than a publicity stunt. There was no evidence proving the claims to be true. And considering his long list of past flings and romances, it is rather absurd to believe these rumors. He is very straight, no doubt.
