In an episode of “Daytime Talk Show with Sally Jessy,” another “Impractical Jokers” cast member, Sal Vulcano, came out as gay. Moments after Sal’s confession, Murr also followed suit and came out as gay.
Seeing [Sal] be so courageous inspires me to confess something of my own. Fellows, I am gay too.”

However, Sal later confessed that his “coming out” wasn’t genuine; he did it solely to give Murr the courage to come out as well.
It makes me feel great that my best friend James has come out of the closet. That is the reason I brought him here today. You see, I am not gay but I knew if I said I was gay, he would admit that he was gay.”

But that’s not the end of it all. Murr also confessed that he wasn’t really gay either and that he did it solely for entertainment purposes.
It is worth noting, though, that it was only a talk-show skit, and The Tenderloins — or the Jokers as they call themselves — are known for their, sometimes, excessive pranks, like the time Sal had to tattoo Jaden Smith’s face on his thigh or how Murr has both his nipples and belly button pierced as punishments. On March 13, 2014, Murr had to marry Sal Vulcano’s sister, Jenna Vulcano, as part of the punishment. They had their marriage annulled shortly after, though.
The Jokers are longtime friends; they’ve known each other since high school, and that’s where their undeniable chemistry comes from. They can be extreme without pushing each other to their limits.

The couple revealed that it took them six months to plan their big day, and it wasn’t easy, as they had to go through numerous changes due to the ever-evolving COVID-19 restrictions.
We had four different weddings being planned simultaneously, depending on how everything worked. We had four different wedding lists and four different plans, and one version of it was just our bridal party in our backyard, at the most extreme.”

In the end, they had to settle for a compromised guest list, which was only a quarter of the original list.
We ended up going with a compromised list, which was about a quarter of the original list that we had. Honestly, it was a lot less stress having one quarter of the guest list. It’s a lot less moving parts in that way. And thankfully we’re both healthy, and our families are healthy, so it was kind a blessing in that way, having this time to live together and plan our lives together.”

We moved in not too long before everything happened, and having both of us home, I think, really helped decide what we wanted and what we needed more of and less of. We got to spend a lot more time in the house — which I don’t think would have been possible before all of this — and with our puppy. She got spoiled during all of this!”
Melyssa Davies also added
The wedding was small and intimate, yet it couldn’t have been more perfect. The large outdoor space overlooking the lake provided a beautiful setting for the ceremony, and there were separate guest houses for their family and friends.
It’s a beautiful place. They did a great job with it. It’s very cool that we get to be with our closest friends and family, without having the need for them to be staying in hotels nearby.”

Getting to the big day was not easy, considering it was held in the middle of a pandemic, but Murr said what’s important is that Melyssa Davies said yes, and all their closest family and friends were there to witness one of the most important moments of their lives.
James Murray and Melyssa Davies first met in 2018 during the launch of Murr’s book, “Awakened.” They dated for a year before he proposed to her in August 2019.
