Eddie Munson’s Sexuality Questioned
Although the fan-favorite series didn’t really establish Eddie Munson’s sexuality, the viewers started to notice little details that seemed to suggest that he might be queer.
Actually, there’s nothing queer about how Eddie Munson dressed up — ripped jeans, skull rings, and all. But what caught the fans’ attention was the fact that he always accessorized with a black handkerchief, flagging it in his pocket.
Now, at first thought, there’s nothing queery about donning a blank hanky. Except that the story is set in the 1980s — when the Hanky Code is popular among queer men. It’s like color-coded communication with the use of a bandana or handkerchief. Different colors were used to convey something — like red for fisting, light blue for oral sex, dark blue for anal sex, and such. It also matters where they put the hanky. Left means the flagger is a top, while right means they’re a bottom.
Some fans, however, point out that the hanky could be just Eddie’s way of rocking a “rock and roll” vibe. Unfortunately… oh, wait. Spoiler alert ahead! Stop right here if you haven’t watched the latest episodes of “Stranger Things” yet.
So, yeah… moving on — unfortunately, Eddie Munson eventually died in the finale of Season Four. Thus, his sexuality remained a question to the viewers.

We also have Will Byers, whose sexuality has always been in question among fans. But in a recent interview with Noah Schnapp, the actor who plays the role, he somewhat confirmed that Will Byers is indeed gay.
