Dream, whose real name is Clay and whose last name is still unknown, was born on August 12, 1999. He has been active online since 2014 but only gained popularity in 2019. He was known throughout the world by his avatar, which consisted of a white mask with a black smiley face drawn on it. Fans have always been curious about how he looks behind that mask. But it looks like his followers are not only curious about his looks, they’re curious about his sexuality, as well.

It has been rumored that Dream was gay and his post on Twitter somehow became a revelation to fans. Since his popularity started in 2019, Dream has been very private with his personal life. He only shares little details about himself. He shared with fans his struggles with ADHD. He also dropped important details about himself, like his birth date, which was on August 12, 1999. But he never talks about his relationships, especially his true sexuality.
Not until April 12, 2022, when he tweeted:
I’m not gay I think women are very attractive, some men are ok too I guess.”
It went viral, giving not only fans, but also his fellow content creators, more questions than answers with regard to his sexual orientation. Some interpreted the Tweet as coming out, since being not gay doesn’t mean you’re straight. You can be bisexual, pansexual, etc. As there are many types of sexualities.
Dream didn’t confirm or speak more about the speculation, but fans have been considering him as “Bisexual King” following that intriguing Tweet he made last April.
Dream’s Face Reveal
A few months after his cryptic Tweet regarding his sexuality, Dream decided to reveal his face. For 6 long years, he has been using his avatar profile when he streams online.
On September 20, 2022, Dream stated that in the next video, he’ll be revealing his face. Thirteen days later, October 2, 2022, he uploaded a video on YouTube titled “hi, I’m Dream”, doing as he promised — finally revealing his face to his fans. There were both positive and negative reactions on his face reveal. His anonymity allowed fans to imagine what he looked like. After the reveal, he started to get awful messages. #PutTheMaskBack even trended on Twitter. But he also got flooded with pouring support from both fans and fellow creators.
In an interview with Anthony Padilla, a YouTuber, Dream said that it was never his intention to cover his face. He didn’t purposely hide his face from fans, “it kind of just happened” based on feedback.
Dream shared with Padilla the reason why he decided to do a face reveal. He explained that wearing a mask limits him from doing things. He can’t meet people and can’t even do Tiktok. He added that there will be no changes in his content after his face reveal, but it would rather “be a new chapter”.
Whatever outcome Dream gets after revealing his face, there’s one thing he is sure of: he will now be able to meet friends and do things he was restricted to do as an online superstar who hides behind a mask.
