Damiano David is an Italian singer and songwriter best known as the frontman of the Italian rock band Måneskin. The band rose to fame when they won the Sanremo Music Festival 2021 and the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 (as the Italian representative) with the song “Zitti e buoni”.

Born on January 8, 1999, in Rome, Italy, this 24-year-old singer was always drawn to music. He started singing when he was six. He met his bandmates — Victoria De Angelis and Thomas Raggi — during his high school days. The band was formed in 2016 and initially played as buskers in the streets of Rome. They had their big break a year later when they joined the 11th season of the talent show “X Factor Italia” and finished second place.
A huge part of the band’s success was because of David’s vocal performance, stage look, and overall personality. X-factor judge Fedez called him “a real frontman”. It looks like success always comes with a price and, in the case of Måneskin’s frontman, Damiano David, it was getting involved in several controversies following his band’s success.
First off, David was rumored to be gay. This was after he was seen making out with another man in front of thousands of people, on national television no less. This was after Måneskin was announced as the winner of Eurovision 2021. David was seen planting a big smooch on Ethan Torchio‘s mouth before he turned to Thomas Raggi, whom he had also shared a passionate kiss with. As expected, the incident prompted rumors about the vocalist’s sexuality.
His characteristic androgynous look and fashion style on stage are also factors behind the gay rumors. David had become an Italian fashion icon with his bold and loud fashion sense — a mixture of hippie, vintage, and glam rock. The singer doesn’t really mind cross-dressing, either. Not to mention that he also posts photos of him getting cozy with other men on his Instagram account. All these factors contribute to why the public was convinced that Damiano David was gay.

Damiano was also involved in another controversy. He was accused of using illegal drugs which he earnestly denied. He later passed a drug test proving his innocence.

The pair have been together since 2017. They never shied away from showing their love for each other to the public. They would often post sweet photos together on their social media accounts. Although there were no reports as to when the Måneskin frontman popped the question, rumor has it that the couple was already engaged.

The singer had not discussed his sexuality yet. Although it was evident that he was into women, provided that he was in a long-term relationship with his fiancee, Giorgia Soleri, it was not clear whether he was into women exclusively.
