Chris Distefano is an American stand-up comedian best known for his observational comedy skits. He was born on August 26, 1984, in Brooklyn, New York, to an Italian-American family. Before venturing into comedy, Distefano was an athlete and studied psychology at St. Joseph’s College. He also earned a doctorate degree in physical therapy from the New York Institute of Technology.

In an unexpected move, Distefano took up comedy full-time in 2013. At this point, he was already building up his fanbase by joining the cast of MTV’s “Guy Code and Girl Code”. The comedian also appeared on multiple talk shows, including “Late Night with David Letterman” and “Late Night with Seth Meyers”. Shortly after appearing on the latter’s show, Distefano embarked on his first national comedy tour.
At the beginning of the year in 2019, Comedy Central launched Distefano’s first standup special titled “Chris Distefano: Size 38 Waist”. Around the same time, he published his weekly podcast “Stand-Up with Chris Distefano”. In February 2022, the comedian performed at New York City’s Beacon Theatre for a sold-out show. The success prompted him to perform at Gramercy Theatre, where he recorded his sophomore special “Speshy Weshy”.

Over the course of his career, Distefano has only been in two relationships. Although the comedian is relatively private, he does share bits of info with his fans every now and then. Let’s take a look at his dating history and learn the truth as to why people question his sexuality.
Chris Distefano and Carly Aquilino (2010-2014)
In 2010, Distefano first met fellow stand-up comedian Carly Aquilino while auditioning for MTV’s show “Girl Code”. The pair immediately hit it off and started dating for the next three years. However, the cracks started to show in 2013 when the couple posted a video of themselves celebrating a negative pregnancy test. Viewers speculated that this must be a symptom of underlying problems in their relationship.
Unfortunately, the rumors turned out to be true this time. After posting the viral video, Distefano and Aquilino seemed to have quietly broken up. They were not seen together since the video and they have stopped following each other on social media. In February 2014, Aquilino stirred the pot by posting a cryptic message on Instagram:

In November 2014, Distefano published a suspicious tweet, prompting fans to declare that he was gay. In the tweet, the comedian stated:

Chris Distefano and Jasmine Canuelas (2014-Present)
The gay rumors were finally put to rest when it was reported that Distefano was seeing fitness instructor Jasmine Canuelas. The stand-up artist shared in an interview with fellow comedian Howie Mandel that they met at a Brooklyn bar. According to Distefano, “She’s Puerto Rican, I was Italian, it was like West Side Story.”
On their second date, Canuelas became pregnant with their first child. The pair settled in a New Jersey suburb with their three children, Delilah, Violette, and Canuelas’ son from a previous relationship, Tristan.
While Distefano and Canuelas may have undeniable chemistry, they both admitted that they had different views when it came to marriage. The comedian didn’t agree with the notion of marriage and described it as “a law that is a piece of paper that some guy made up.” On the other hand, Canuelas said that marriage was “a nice level of commitment” and shared that she felt uneasy being referred to as his wife even though she is legally not.
Distefano eventually changed his tune and the couple got married early in 2015, shortly before welcoming their first daughter together.
